Overview
Kareri FRH is located near the Government School in the village of the same name. This was built during the colonial years and has three rooms. A major attraction is the Kareri Lake (also known as the Kumarwah Lake). This is a shallow, high-altitude, fresh-water Lake and is a beacon for trekkers in the Dhauladhars. The lake remains frozen from early December to March-April. As the water-source is fresh melting snow and the lake is shallow, visibility through the water is sharp and in most places, the lake-bed can also be seen. There is a Shiva-Shakti temple on the hill above the lake.
