Sangla

Overview

Sangla FRH was constructed in 1908. This is located on the left bank of the river Baspa amidst a deodar forest. This historic resthouse finds mentions in the travelogues of several early-20th century visitors that included British, German and Americans nationals who were either trekkers on their way to Tibet through the Gugerang Pass, or were game-hunters. Even today, numerous trekkers pass through the valley en route to the Chanshal valley or to the Buran valley - and even to Har ki Doon in the adjoining state ofUttrakhand. The rest house presents a fine view of the village and old fort of Kamru, which was the original seat of the rulers of the former princely state of Bushair. Kamru also has the venerated shrine of Badri Vishalji.
